WHAT IS LOMI LOMI MASSAGE?
Lomi Lomi massage is an ancient Hawaiian bodywork practice that combines long, full body strokes (customised to your preferred pressure), as well as breathwork and gentle stretching to bring about whole-body relaxation and release of muscle tension.
SHOULD I BOOK A 60 OR 90-MINUTE SESSION?
It's really up to you. Generally, a 60-minute session will focus on the back of the body, neck, and shoulders, as well as a relaxing head and face massage. A 90-minute session will include the above, as well as the legs, arms, and more targeted work on specific areas of tension. During a 90-minute session, you may also choose to have a partial chest or abdomen massage, with a detailed explanation provided by your practitioner beforehand.
CAN I CLAIM MY LOMI MASSAGE ON PRIVATE HEALTH?
Unfortunately, health funds do not offer rebates for Lomi Lomi massage services. If you would like to claim your massage through private health insurance, you'll need to visit a clinical massage therapist like a remedial therapist or physio. We'd be happy to provide some recommendations.
DO YOU OFFER PREGNANCY MASSAGE?
No, not at this stage. We recommend specialist pregnancy massage services like the Massage Hub in Adamstown or Kilter in Adamstown Heights.
WHAT IF I NEED AN URGENT APPOINTMENT?
We understand that sometimes you really need some care and support ASAP. Please text us directly on 0418 228 174 if you need an urgent appointment as last-minute spots and extra evening spots are possible.
WHAT PRESSURE SHOULD I ASK FOR?
Pressure is customised to your needs. Usually, we recommend a combination because different parts of your body are likely to hold different levels of tension and sensitivity to deep pressure. Check-in with yourself before your session to be sure you’re asking for what you really need. If you’re going through a tough time, or you’re feeling a bit run down, consider that maybe your body doesn’t want to be elbowed!
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?
WHAT DO I WEAR FOR MY SESSION?
Consider wearing an old pair of undies as they're likely to get a little oily (coconut). A G-string is recommended if you want deeper work on your glute muscles. Draping (body covering) is used at all times to maintain your modesty.
WHAT OIL DO YOU USE?
We generally use liquid coconut oil for the body and jojoba oil for the face. Please let us know if you have allergies to any of these oils. You are welcome to bring your own.
WHERE IS THE STUDIO?
The Newcastle studio is based in Adamstown Heights. We will send you the address in your booking confirmation. Appointments are also available on Thursdays at Nelson Bay through Holding Space for Healing.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
As it is difficult to fill sessions at short notice, cancellations or reschedules under 24 hours ahead of your scheduled appointment incur a 30% fee. No-shows will also be charged a 30% fee. Emergencies are exceptions.
HOW DO I MANAGE MY BOOKING?
We partner with Fresha to manage our online bookings. It’s really easy to make changes to your booking up to 48 hours ahead of your scheduled appointment by using the link in your confirmation email or text. Alternatively, you can call us directly on 0418 228 174.
ARE YOU INSURED?
Yes. Our practitioners are members of the International Institute of Complementary Therapists (IICT) and are comprehensively insured.
We understand that sometimes you really need some care and support ASAP. Please text or call us directly on 0418 228 174 if you need an urgent appointment as last-minute spots and extra evening spots are sometimes possible.
